The 8th ACPO Annual Excellence in Policing Conference
‘Confidence in the New Performance Landscape:
New roles, New responsibilities’
This year’s conference focused on three challenges faced by the police service, its partners and stakeholders as they grapple with the complexities of delivering against the 'single top down target' whilst coming to terms with a rapidly changing performance regime.
The first conference theme 'Understanding Performance' provided an opportunity for delegates to make sense of the emerging performance landscape and how policing will be assessed 'in the round.' This was followed by detailed consideration of how all aspects of policing, from neighbourhood to national levels, can contribute to 'building public confidence.'
On day 2, the third theme 'understanding people and understanding services' enabled delegates to explore what forces can and should be doing to deliver citizen-focused policing in a difficult economic climate.
The conference brought together the latest thinking in the relevant business areas and highlighted where police organisations across the UK are finding new ways of delivering services.
All three themes were explored in detail through plenary briefings and breakout sessions featuring subject specialists.
