ACPO Excellence in Policing Awards 2008, sponsored by:
The judging process for the inaugural Excellence in Policing Awards, sponsored by Alexander, proved so tight that the judging panel unexpectedly decided to commend five entries in addition to the four winning submissions.
Representatives of the five police forces who submitted the commended entries attended the EIP conference to be presented with certificates by Chief Constable Roger Baker, who chairs the ACPO Performance Management Business Area.

The five commended entries, all of which can be found in the compendium of case studies that supplement the ACPO & Home Office Guide to Police Performance Management are as follows:
